The Club Scene: 5 Reasons to Stay Home

During my junior year of high school I was lucky to spend the entire year studying abroad in Spain- aka party capital of the world. Okay okay, maybe that isn’t what they are known for but let me tell you-they know how to party! When I was there I experienced the infamous “discoteca.” I fell in love with the experience. It was a huge dance floor, flashing lights, bubbles, tons of people, awesome beats, and best of all we would stay out until the sun came up. What a life! Unfortunately, the club scene isn’t the same here on the homefront. Most are only open until 2:00 and cannot even compare to my first few experiences clubbing in Spain. Here is why:

1. Lame Cover Charges - I have to pay to come in? I am planning on spending money once I get inside, isn’t that enough? My theory is if you are going to make me pay to get in- great, I’ll go somewhere else! My favorite disco in Spain had a cover charge but I got two free drinks with it -thank you! The only thing I get when I pay a cover charge here is the fact that I am stuck there the entire night. If I paid for it I’m going to stay put.

2. Over Priced Drinks - It’s bad enough that they charge me to come in but then I get charged three times as much for a tiny drink with a splash of liquor in it.

3. They Play the Same Music FOREVER - If I have to listen to “Boots with the Fur” one more time I am going to knock some one upside the head with my own boot- and its not furry, its pointy and lethal!

4. How LONG Do I Have To Wait To Use The Bathroom? - Yes, that is the line for the bathroom wrapping around the entire club. Then once you get inside you get guilted into leaving that nice woman money who has paper towels for you after you wash your hands- oh! MORE MONEY! Among the things sitting on her little table are a wide variety of perfumes, hair accessories, and candy. Don’t ever forget the golden rule: Don’t take candy from strangers!

5. Creepers - Yes gentlemen, Dane Cook knows exactly what he is talking about. “I just want to dance!” We girls go out to the clubs without guys for a reason, and it’t not always to grab your attention! So don’t grab us! Grinding? Are we at an 8th grade dance? Please step away from the goods!
