The Election Is Almost Over! Thank God!!

obamacainI really cannot wait for this election to be over.  My inbox has overflowed with mail from candidates and I have been asked roughly 2,364 times if I am registered to vote (again that is a real rough estimate).  The news is dominated by campaign headlines: Obama this, McCain that, Palin did something dumb again and spent The Gambia’s GDP on clothes.  Even television shows have ‘casted’ their votes (the Simpsons here, Family Guy here, and SNL here ).  People have even made their own videos bashing who they so choose, like this fantastically cheesey one.  Well guess what, I’m sick of it.  And here is why…

The news: reporting the same s&%t for 8 months straight - Guess what, their campaigns have not changed in the past 8 months.  Their policies have stayed relatively consistent and yet the media keeps reporting them.  Analysis after analysis of the same policies?  Are you kidding?  How about a nice report on California’s musical roads?

The emails:  Dear Al Gore, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, David Poluffe, Marianne Markowitz, Craig Schirmer, and anyone else who sent me emails that I’ve already deleted:

I sincerely appreciate your interest in the campaign but for serious?  I have never, and I am careful about this, signed up for any emails.  So stop sending me messages.  I, contrary to what your emails have eluded to, do know that there is an election going on in America.

Love,

Someone who actually does care.

The dirt: Sometimes I feel that, especially during debates, candidates speak more of what the other voted against then what they voted for.  There was a commercial recently that stated one positive about McCain against one negative about Obama.  Everytime McCain is pictured he is smiling and has a pleasant look about him.  Each time Obama is featured he is freeze framed in an absolutely ridiculous pose.  I mean they might as well have used a picture of Obama picking his nose.  It was pathetic.  If you know which one I am talking about and you can find this video, post the link below, I could not find it.

America prides itself on being, well for lack of a better term, the UNITED States.  But now, at the tail end of the election, I can’t remember a time in my life where I have seen America more divided.  This election has pitted American against American.  Democrat against Republican.  A cornerstone of America is that it was founded on the right of its citizens to choose.  Today America will choose its next leader and no matter who wins, the sun will rise tomorrow and history will continue, so deal with it.

Oh, and I just cannot wait for the analysis that will of course follow the election (because without an analysis we obviously would not be able to figure out who won and why).  Here is a pre-analysis summary of how it will go, “ ——- has captured the majority of the electoral vote and will become the 44th person to accept the Presidency and lead America.  He used his blah and more blah skills to capture the win.  America will take such and such a direction because of this and that policy.”  And this will be said over, and over, and over, and yea, over again.

Hey Americas, stop hatin’ on each other.  Forget this Ununited States we have been molded into over the past year and let be friends again.

K Thanks!

Tire of it too?  Tell my why below…
