Rarely do I find myself with a busy on a Saturday unless by busy I mean spending the day in the library. But this coming Saturday (October 4th) Pittsburghers everywhere can rejoice at the FREE music events going on all day. Here’s the day’s run-down:
1PM-7PM: The Pitt Program Council at UPitt presents their annual Fall Fest right on Bigelow Blvd. This year the line-up is as follows
Other activities going on for when you’re bored:
- Primanti’s Sandwich eating contest
- Apple Cider Pong
- SpinArt and other arts ‘n crafts
- Go Green Bag decorating
- Pumpkin Painting
- Photo Booth
- Velcro Wall, and more!
Note that the above things are FREE for Pitt Students, $10 for non-Pitt students (the concert itself is FREE for all). Click here to visit the Facebook event page.
6:30PM-10PM: Carnegie Mellon Students for Barack Obama present Voter Registration Concert with Vampire Weekend on the CFA Lawn. If you are unfamiliar where that is specifically, just hop on down to CMU’s campus and walk around on the big grass area or “the Cut”; you can’t miss it.
The Line-up:
- Vampire Weekend (headliner)
- Life in Bed
- Lohio
- Dirty Faces
It says that tickets are FREE for all but required. However in all honesty I don’t think you need a ticket as it is outdoors (there is talk of them gating off the area but I don’t believe that either). The tickets are mainly for a raffle where you can win a chance to meet Vampire Weekend and some sweet band merch. If you are interested in a ticket, stop by one of these ticketing locations and register to vote or tell them you are ineligible to vote:
- The Obama table at Carnegie Mellon University, in front of Doherty Hall (9:00 am - 4:30 pm)
- Obama Headquarters at 213 Smithfield Street (Mon-Fri, 10:00 am – 9:00 pm)
- Obama Oakland Office at 3516 Fifth Ave (Mon-Fri, 10:00 am – 9:00 pm)

Blake’s gotta new face!!! I’m so pumped up for Vampire Weekend. Under normal circumstances I’d be gearing up for an awesome free Motion City concert, but VW is in a totally different league…..OUTTA CAPE COD TONIGHT!!!
