You have a paper due in less than 12 hours—what do you do? Procrastinate, of course! If you’ve already checked your Facebook account a million times, you’ve seen all the latest YouTube videos, or you’re tired of losing the staring contest with the wall, check out these sites, which are currently at the top of my time-wasting repertoire…
1. Pandora Radio - If you are tired of the artists on your iPod, type the name of a few of your favs into Pandora, and it will play songs by similar artists. As each new song is played, you can rate it with a Thumbs Up (play more like this), Thumbs Down (skip it and don’t play this track or any similar to it again) or Zzzzzz (don’t play for at least a month because I’m tired of hearing it). Pro: I’ve found a few new bands that are now regulars in my music rotation. Con: Only six skips are allowed each hour, including those resulting from a Thumbs Down response.
2. Fun Trivia - What better way to waste an hour or two than by answering mindless questions about music, celebrities, movies and geography? Fun Trivia has thousands of quizzes. If you’re extra motivated (in any area except your studies, of course), you can even create your own.
3. Roadside America - If you’re wondering where the world’s smallest church is or where the country’s largest cleaning museum is, this is the place. Type in your city to see what crazy attractions are nearby. Or you can go all out and start planning a wacky summer road trip.
4. Fark - While this site has been around for a while, it’s the ultimate in non-news. New stories are continually being added, so check it often for full procrastination pleasure.
5. MeeVee - If you’re a TV fan, check out this site. Search for your favorite actors, and you’ll get news, gossip, and show listings based around them. My favorite spot on the site? TV with MeeVee, which gives a list of the best shows on that night, as well as entertainment news blurbs.
Happy procrastinating!
