Most Creative Celebrity Halloween Costumes

Heidi Klum attends Heidi Klum's 9th annual Halloween party at 1 OAK on October 31, 2008 in New York City.I’m sad to say it but Halloween is over. I spent the whole month of October conjuring up ideas for my costume and using the holiday as an excuse to consume my weight in candy corn and now, just like that, it’s over. I know there is always next Halloween to look forward to but before doing that let’s take a look back at this year’s festivities and see what kind of costumes the celebs came up with. Since they are the ones that have an exorbitant amount of money they have no excuse to skimp on creativity. Most of them did not let us down:

  1. First, I want to pay homage to Heidi Klum. The girl has rocked every Halloween for the past few years. This year she went to her own Halloween party dressed up as Kali. Don’t feel bad if you don’t know who Kali is. I had to look it up on Wikipedia and discovered that Kali is a Hindu goddess who is associated with death and destruction. Seems a little dark for the German sweetheart but there is no denying that the costume looked sensational. Last year, she donned a creepily lifelike cat costume and in 2006, she dressed up as the forbidden fruit that tempts Eve in the Bible

1. Regis and Kelly pulled off a series of hysterical costumes during the taping of their live show this past Friday. And by series I mean 14 costumes (7 wardrobe changes each)! They started out as Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. Then they moved on to Hannah Montana and Billy Ray Cyrus(which Philbin later swapped for a Kevin Jonas costume). Next, came a few celebrity chef guises including Gordan Ramsey, Paula Dean, Emeril Lagasse, and Nigella Lawson. Later, the pair transformed from kitchen connoisseurs to professional athletes donning Shawn Johnson (Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics) and Bela Karolyi (her coach) get-ups. Last but not least came the Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn (Project Runway) costumes. I couldn’t stop laughing when I watched the YouTube videos of Regis and Kelly prancing around in these costumes taking on each new persona. (Each link will take you to the respective YouTube video)

  1. mariahcareyMariah Carey and Nick Cannon actually had a pretty creative idea by attending an NYC Halloween party as a chocolate chip cookie and a carton of milk. Not only am I surprised that they are still together but I am also surprised that they were clever enough to come up with this concept.
  2. Of course Martha Stewart donned a creative and well-made ensemble. I expected nothing less from the queen of homemaking. On Friday’s episode of the Martha Stewart Show she was decked out head to toe in silver with a pile of martha-stewartsnakes atop her head looking much less like Martha and much more like Medusa. Blake Lively also showed some Halloween spirit appearing on the show dressed up as Cleopatra.
  3. Cindy Crawford bared a stricking resemblance to Amy Winehouse when she impersonated the drug addicted singer at Kate Hudson’s Halloween party. The supermodel made the costume complete with fake tattoos and fake cocaine smeared under her nose. Oh Amy, when are you going to go to rehab? amy-winehouseAnd Cindy, nicely done.

Which one do you like best? All of these celebrity costumes made me wish that I had been more capable of coming up with a creative Halloween costume for myself. Oh well, they’ve inspired me for next year. Only 361 days to go…
