Elbo.ws is the Best Music Site Ever. Ever.

I just discovered elbo.ws about a month ago and I’m completely addicted. Elbo.ws aggregates all blog post across the music blogosphere and organizes them by artist and song. Wanna find awesome music before everyone else does? Wanna easily download every song, remix, and cover of your favorite artists? Elbo.ws shows you the 10 hottest tracks and 10 hottest artist at any time based on the number of people blogging about them. You can check out the latest buzz on any artist or song, find similar artists and songs, and download a CD quality version of the song for free!

A few weeks ago, I listened to Kanye West’s newest single “Love Lockdown” before it hit iTunes or the radio, downloaded The Arctic Monkeys‘ awesome cover of The Strokes “Take it or Leave it”, and checked out Katy Perry’s cover of MGMT’s “Electric Feel”.

How it Works:

The way it works is artists and music labels release sample tracks to the most influential music bloggers so that the bloggers can listen to their songs and blog about them. The bloggers then put the sample tracks in their blog posts. Elbo.ws then aggregates all of those posts so that you can easily find the latest tracks and music buzz.

Go check out your favorite artists. I guarantee you’ll find some awesome songs that you’ve never seen before - covers of your favorite artists and by your favorite artists, samples of songs on upcoming albums, or older songs you never downloaded.

How to Download Free Songs:

To download the “sample” songs for free (I promise i’ll buy them on iTunes later…..), click on a link to one of the blog posts about the song. They’ll usually have a link to the track at the bottom of the post. To download the song, just right click the link to the song and choose “save link as”. If it’s a .mp3 file, your good to go. Just save it and then open it up once it downloads. Most are mp3s, so if you come across an .htm file just look for an mp3 file in a different blog post.

Now go discover a whole new world of music.
