As we all know, the most important holiday of the semester is soon approaching! I’m sure you’ve been out trying to find that perfect costume, but there’s one aspect I feel as college students we’re not giving enough attention. Drinking. Alright, now I know what you’re thinking—What is this girl thinking? Of course I’m drinking on Halloween. I’m getting inebriated! Let me explain…
Now, I’m not talking about a lack of drinking because I completely trust you will all do that—in excess. I’m talking about what you’ll be drinking. I know the options become slim once you’re out and about partying. Multiple kegs, cases, and jungle juicy (if you’re lucky) is what you’ll find. BUT what about you’re pre-game? Don’t you think this glorious occasion is worth putting down the bottle of Vladimir? Come on guys, think big!
Look no further, I have found a couple drink recipes that go along with the spooky holiday:
2 ounces Bailey’s Irish cream
2 ounces Kahlua
1/2 ounce dark rum
1/2 ounce Goldschlager
Ice
Dash cinnamon
Mix everything but the cinnamon in a cocktail shaker. Strain into shot glasses and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Fill a mixing glass with ice.
1 oz. Jägermeister
1 oz. Grenadine
Fill with Orange Juice
Combine all everything in the mixing glass. Mix well, and serve in a beer mug.
1 oz. Apple Pucker
1 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
Combine in a shaker ice. Strain into a shot glass.
Wormy Jello Shots (A creepy twist on a classic favorite!)
3 cups water
3 packages of Jell-o
2 cups of vodka
Gummy worms or other gummy creepy crawly
Instructions
- Bring the water to a boil.
- Add the Jell-o mix and stir constantly until it dissolves.
- Continue to stir for two more minutes.
- Let the mixture cool for a few minutes before adding the vodka.
- Mix the vodka into the Jell-o thoroughly.
- Pour the Jell-o into shot glasses (plastic shot glasses work best).
- Place the shots in your freezer and check after fifteen minutes.
- Add the worms to the shots.
- Let the wormy shots firm up, overnight is best.
And here’s one for you if you’re throwing the party:
Take 2 (always good to have an extra hand) latex gloves, put them on and wash your hands with dish soap. Rinse well and turn the glove inside out so the just washed side is on the inside. Next, fill the gloves with water, tie the end and freeze. Once frozen remove the glove and you are good to go.
To make the Punch
1 750 ml bottle premium Vodka or White Rum
2 2 liter bottles of Lemon Lime Soda - make sure to get a clear brand
red food coloring
marshmallows (optional)
Chill the Vodka (in the freezer) and Soda (in the fridge) for at least 24 hours. Just before the party combine the two liquids in a large punch bowl. Add a few drops of the red food coloring to make it blood red, well maybe more than a few drops. Add one of your icy hands in the center of the bowl, throw in the marshmallows and squirt some more food coloring over all of it for extra bloodiness.
Well, there you have it! Some spook-tastic Halloween drink ideas because I know you’re all sick of Vladimir.
