So I’m already starting the countdown to Thanksgiving. Two weeks and counting until we get to divulge ourselves with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and the list goes on. I mean who could pass this food up? It just doesn’t happen. Though as a dessert lover, I always have to make sure to save room to eat that Pumpkin Pie AND Apple Pie that my grandma spent hours making!
Though this year - maybe it’s time to try some new desserts other than the standard Apple and Pumpkin pies. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m one for tradition. Though there are so many fantastic desserts out there that perhaps this year could be time for a change (at least our President-Elect believes so!!). Time to start a new tradition.
After some research of the perfect Thanksgiving dessert - I’ve come up with a list of new dessert items that sound absolutely phenomenal. So if you’re up for a dessert change this year - I recommend looking into some of these desserts! A lot of these dessert ideas take the standard pumpkin or apple pie and add a twist to them.
Gingerbread is definitely a holiday flavor. This could be used as a Thanksgiving or Christmas dessert. Though the souffle may be more difficult to make, if you love to bake or have some extra time this holiday season, this dessert could be a big hit in your family!
2. Butter Pecan Toffee Pumpkin Pie
For those of you that don’t want to steer too far away from the Pumpkin Pie - add the butter pecan toffee flavor to the pie and you have a pumpkin pie with a twist! This recipe is not much harder than that of regular pumpkin pie - so if you are already a pro at making the Thanksgiving dessert, this shouldn’t be too much more difficult.
How about substituting apples for pears? Personally, I think this sounds fantastic.
Still continuing with the Pumpkin theme of Thanksgiving - though instead of having a “heavy” pie, change the texture to a mousse parfait. The family will love this because they can still eat their dessert without the extra calories of the pie.

5. Pumpkin Bundt Cake with Chocolate Glaze and Pumpkin-Chocolate Truffle Center
This may be the perfect combination. Pumpkin and chocolate anything would be amazing. I definitely recommend this dessert if you are up for a change. How could you go wrong?
6. Cranberry-Apple-Orange Torte
More of a fruit person? This seasonal torte is perfect for Thanksgiving. Again, not completely dismissive of the apple dessert - though just adding a few more fruits into the mix!
For those of you Apple Pie connoisseurs! If you add a little raspberry flavor into that Apple Pie, you’ll be in heaven.

Incorporating a seasonal favorite into the traditional pumpkin pie. If you are an Egg Nog fan, this could be the perfect match for you.
I hope you attempt one of these above desserts for this upcoming Thanksgiving! If you’re a baking pro - maybe attempt one of the more challenging ones. Though even if you want to take a stab at a new dessert, I challenge you to do so! Good luck with the baking!
